Installation
Visit the download page and download the appropriate client version for your operating system. Depending on your operating system, follow the instructions below.
Windows
Download either the MSI or EXE installer and run it. If you receive an alert from Windows Defender while running the installer, click on "More info" and then "Run anyway" to continue with the installation.
macOS
Download the DMG and mount it. Drag the Plauzible application to your Applications folder. If, when you run the application, you receive a message saying that the app is damaged and cannot be opened, click on "Cancel" and open the Terminal application. Then enter the following command:
sudo xattr -d com.apple.quarantine
Don’t forget to add a space at the end of this command, as you need to append the application’s path. The simplest way to do this is to drag and drop the application icon from Finder to the Terminal window. This will append the path to the end of the command. Once added, press Enter in the Terminal window to run the command. You may be prompted to enter your password to allow the command to execute. This should prevent the “application is damaged and cannot be opened” message.
Linux
A .deb and a .rpm file is provided for Linux. Download the file appropriate for your system and install it in the standard way.
Getting Started
Start the client application. If this is the first time you’ve run the application, the client will guide you through a basic setup process. This begins with a welcome screen. Click the Continue button to proceed.
The next screen relates to local encryption settings. If this is your first time running the application, simply click the Continue button. If you have already run the application before, you can enter the encryption code from another device here (the encryption code can be obtained from the client application settings). Sharing the encryption code across multiple devices allows you to access the same records on each device when running in remote sync mode.
The following screen asks for your online service key. If you have subscribed for remote sync usage, you will have been provided with a service key and should enter it in the field provided. If you plan to use local mode only, you can leave this field blank. Click the Continue button to complete the setup process.
You will then be presented with a password screen. This is the default start screen for the application, and you will see it every time you launch it after completing the setup process. Plauzible does not use any form of username, so simply enter a password (there are no incorrect passwords) and you can begin using the application to store and manage your passwords. Note: The records you see will depend on the password you enter.
